More Solids
Ashley ate two Cheerios today. She was unsure of them and made a face while eating them, but she ate them. Actually, more like let them dissolve in her mouth. She also tried prunes today and, to my surprise, loved them! She will eat anything you put in her mouth. She is just the best baby in the entire world!
My first attempts at blogging
I tried this while Ashley was in the NICU, but I did not have complete access to the blog so I never really updated it. Also, understandably so, my mind was a bit pre-occupied, so the blog was the last thing from my mind.
Well, now I really have no excuses. So, here it goes.
Not too much new here at the Bledsoe home. We are in the throes of Christmas decorating. I have the tree half decorated; the rest of the house is done. For the first time ever, almost all of the shopping is done already. Best of all, our Christmas cards have all been sent out. Yay! Even with an infant, we are ahead of schedule. I love it!
Now, for the more important news, Ashley's progress. I mean, that's why anyone would be interested in this blog, right? Bryan and I are not naive. We know no one cares what we did today, or what we ate for dinner. Nope. It is all about the munchkin. We've made peace with this.
Today, Ashley is 8 1/2 months old. Time flies! She's 18 pounds, 3.2 oz., and she has just grown by leaps and bounds. If someone would have told me in March or April that she would be 18 pounds before Christmas, I never would have believed you. I thought we might have hit this mark by her first birthday, not three months before it. She has simply amazed us with her growth. She looks like a typical 8 month old baby and her pediatrician cannot help commenting upon her size whenever he sees her. She has the cutest baby thighs and the biggest belly around. Daddy affectionately calls it her puss gut. She's totally in proportion and just beautiful.
Last Saturday (December 1st), she started standing up by herself. She holds on to furniture, but she does it competely unassisted. At first, she is unsure of herself. Then, she gets the biggest smile on her face as if to say, "see, I'm doing it." Of course, we have pictures to document this momentus occasion.
Ashley also started applesauce today and just loves it. With the exception of prunes (which I have absolutely no desire to try), this will be our last fruit. We have already gone through all the veggies. Ashley just loved them all, especially carrots and sweet potatoes. She tolerated the green veggies. Before applesauce, she was eating bananas. Bryan started her on bananas last Friday and she loved them.
This is the newest going on in our lives. We'll definitely keep everyone posted on new developments in our lives, no wait, Ashley's life. hehe.
